A love story, told in the order love tends to happen. It begins with love arriving once you stop looking for it, then the title poem: love is the answer — the only question is who is asking. The early haiga are giddy (air, ribbon, a catdog); the middle settles into the good ordinary of a messy house and sea otters holding hands in their sleep. Then the drift: the talking that stops, the heart that breaks, the silence someone leaves behind. The close doesn’t pretend it all worked out. It turns to what love makes possible and ends on a Polaroid in a wallet, creased by bends in time.
